Title: General Manager – Nightlife Venue

 

 

Job Purpose

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the full scope of operations at a high-energy nightlife venue, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational efficiency, and financial performance. This role requires strong leadership, cross-departmental collaboration, and a deep understanding of nightlife culture. The GM sets the tone for hospitality excellence, drives strategic growth, oversees HR matters with professionalism, and cultivates a vibrant and inclusive environment that reflects the brand's identity and engages the local community.

 

Specific Opjective: 

The General Manager will lead the charge in developing and executing strategic 3-, 6-, and 9-month plans designed to drive revenue and elevate the venue’s visibility. This includes creating and launching themed nights, DJ events, community partnerships, brand collaborations, and promotional activations. The GM will ensure these initiatives are not only financially successful but also strengthen the venue’s position as a staple in the nightlife scene, attracting a diverse and loyal guest base.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across all departments including bar, security, VIP, and entertainment.

  • Design and implement innovative revenue-driving programming and guest engagement experiences.

  • Build and maintain a dynamic nightlife culture aligned with brand values and guest expectations.

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing management and hourly team.

  • Lead with a hands-on approach during peak hours to ensure optimal service and operations.

  • Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and reduce operating costs through efficiency strategies.

  • Coordinate with marketing to plan and execute promotional campaigns and large-scale events.

  • Ensure all health, safety, and legal regulations are strictly followed.

  • Analyze KPIs, financial reports, and guest feedback to continuously improve performance.

  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage supply chain needs for bar, staffing, and entertainment.

  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and staff development initiatives.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal leadership, community partners, and VIP clientele.

  • Report directly to the Regional Director of Operations and support company-wide initiatives.

Additional Information

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a General Manager or AGM in a high-volume nightclub, lounge, or nightlife-focused restaurant ($8M+ revenue).

  • Demonstrated success managing fast-paced, late-night operations.

  • Strong knowledge of nightlife trends, music programming, VIP services, and security operations.

  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.

  • Proven track record in driving revenue, managing budgets, and delivering strong financial results.

  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop and execute unique promotional and experiential concepts.

  • Exceptional guest service and conflict resolution skills, especially in high-stakes environments.

  • Proficient with POS systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.

  • Strong communication skills – verbal, written, and interpersonal.

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Significant, relevant management experience in the nightlife or hospitality sector may be considered in lieu of a degree.

 

Working Conditions

  • Evening and late-night hours are required, with extended shifts during peak nights and events.

  • Physical requirements include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and navigating fast-paced environments.
